New Computer Setup Directions for

Internet Explorer 5.0x

1) Double Click on the Internet Explorer Icon on your desktop (your main screen)
    -There are two possibilities here. The Connection Wizard may start, if so then skip to step 6, if not then continue to step 2.

2) Click on Tools then Internet Options.

3) Go to the General Tab, then go to the address and type in http://www.torchlake.com

5) Go to the Connection tab, and click the Setup... button. (This will start the Internet Connection Wizard)

6) Chose the third selection, and click Next.

7) Chose I connect through a phone line and a modem, and click Next.

8) This screen should by default have detected your modem. If not click the arrow button next to the blank and chose your modem. Then click Next.

    - This screen will not appear if you only have one modem installed. If so, skip this step and move on to 9.

9) Enter a local Dial-up telephone number. Then click Next.

    - Local Dial: 331-4333 (Local Prefixes: 331, 322, 377, 533, 544, 588, 599) 
    - Kalkaska: 258-0776 (Local Prefixes: 258, 369) 
    - Traverse City: 932-1105 (Local Prefixes: 932, 946, 947, 941, 943, 929, 938, 935, 922, 263, 264, 267, 271, 228, 256) 
    - Mancelona: 587-1160 (Local Prefixes: 587) 
    - Charlevoix: 237-7707 (Local Prefixes: 237, 347, 582, 547, 536, 348, 439, 487) 

10) Now enter your Username and Password. Then click Next.

11) Name your new connection Chain O' Lakes Internet. Then click Next.

12) Now we can set up your e-mail account as well, select Yes. Then click Next.

13) Chose Create a new Internet mail account. Then click Next.

14) Enter your name or family name. Then click Next.

15) Now we will enter your e-mail address, this will normally be your username@torchlake.com. Then click Next.

16) Your incoming e-mail server is a POP3 server (Normally the wizard will default to this setting). Your Incoming mail server will be torchlake.com along with the Outgoing server. Enter the information, Then click Next.

17) Now you will enter your Account name (Username) and Password, the Account name will usually default to the correct choice. Then click Next.

    -You can chose to leave the password field empty and you will be prompted to enter your password each time you check your e-mail. Un-checking Remember password will do the same.

18) Finally chose to connect to the internet immediately or not, and click Finish.
