Introduction

For most of my life,

religion seemed a safe place to dwell,

providing what seemed like

the answers to all of life’s burning questions.

Along the way,

church hierarchical abuses,

sexual, financial, spiritual, discriminatory, etc.,

forced me to begin to search outside the boundaries of

Conventional Wisdom

and to recall that many years ago

the Jesuits at John Carroll University

strove to teach me, not what to think, but

 How to Think.

I began to see that

unless I moved beyond conventional wisdom,

I would never grow.

It is difficult, yet oh so rewarding,

to move beyond a lifetime of programmed answers

to Live the Questions,

to move beyond seemingly secure boundaries,

to Seek Horizons.

This book is a reflection of that Journey.

Love, John
