Is God Laughing or Crying?
I have ministered in the church for more than fifty years
and personally have witnessed all of the events depicted
in this book, sometimes in personal ways, other times
watching the scenarios unfold with disbelieving eyes.
We have come to a point in our church history in which
we either cry or laugh about the inconsistencies
of living our religion.Thank you, John, for giving
us the opportunity to laugh. God, indeed, has a
sense of humor and as God-followers, we must stand
in solidarity with the publican when we look at how many
pharisaical things happen in our Church. We need to
have that same sense of humor as we recognize
how silly we look in the eyes of other religious
groups. Can we read this book with the realization that
each of these pages has a serious story to tell us and that
we can do something about it? If we readers feel we can do
nothing about the sad state of affairs, at least we can laugh
our way right up to the gates of heaven and proudly walk
through because we have paid our dues on earth, putting
up with the nonsense of our modern Pharisees
who have not fooled us.
