Preserve our State's Heritage

The Michigan Heritage & Research Foundation commemorates those Michigan soldiers from the Vietnam Conflict who are Missing in Action, as well as law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty while serving at the city, county or state level.

The foundation's goal is to celebrate Michigan's legacy from the Native Americans, who originally inhabited the state, to today's citizens; may they never be forgotten.

A Place for Learning

The foundation plans to develop a working relationship with school districts, colleges, universities and governmental agencies to enhance the education of young and old alike.

Research projects will be sought so the state's history of contributions in the sciences and arts may continue.

A Place for Remembering

Part of the foundation's endeavor is the construction of an educational, cultural and research center in Kalkaska. This center will pay tribute to those brave citizens who sacrificed their lives to preserve our freedom.

The center will honor 73 Michigan MIA's from the Vietnam Conflict and more than 467 police officers who have lost their lives in our state.

Imagine ... allowing 73 young people to remain individuals instead of numbers. Those who headed off to Vietnam were an average age of 19 when they set foot on foreign soil.

Their families remember them; so will we.
Over 467 Michigan law enforcement officers left home one day and didn't return, losing their lives in the line of duty to preserve and protect our freedom.
Their families remember them; so will we.
