Michigan DNR

We have recently organized to form a united voice to our local governments to preserve these treasures so that the public may continue to enjoy the beautiful natural areas deep within our boarders. Our historical landmarks, public roads and land is often being given or sold to private ownership without public knowledge or consent.

Currently, the historic "Old Iron Bridge" located approximately 1 mile east of Rapid City, off of Valley Road is in danger of becoming private property. We are in the process of preserving this bridge as a historical site through the Michigan Historical Society, with the help of the Michigan Dept. of Transportation.

The "Old Iron Bridge" is an old friend to many people. It has given the community access to one of the best fishing spots of the Rapid River, since nearly the beginning of the township’s history. Many fishermen, and other residents have used this bridge for recreation throughout the years. It's beauty and natural surroundings have inspired many as you can see on our website:

We invite you to become a member in our new, non-profit organization. We are committed to represent a majority of people from Antrim and Kalkaska counties. Membership includes public and website recognition. Annual memberships start at $5 per person, and a lifetime membership is $150 or more.
